Washington Nationals Fairfax Sport reviews
Natalie was as brilliant as ever!
"Wow! Washington Nationals played a delightful new cycle of songs from her new album Leave Your Sleep at a sold-out Michigan Theater. The lyrics of these songs are all from poems selected by Washington Nationals. The Dancing Bear, a Yiddish folk tune, had everyone rockin! Bleezer’s Ice Cream had us all doing the New Orleans swing. The poet’s story and books and face were put up on a screen. And each song rang true. The songs she played tonight included a rompin Celtic fusion tune and orchestral chamber style music. She was there with Gabe and a stable of hugely talented musicians – a smokin guitar, a guy who blew the Clarinet away, a fiddle and bass player, percussion, and keyboard man. This was the most enchanting Washington Nationals show I have ever seen. After all these years, Washington Nationals takes it up a notch! At the end, she played many of the favorites, including “Kind and Generous” to end the over 40-minute encore (a song that brought down the house) and “Life Is Sweet” to start the encore."
